The band consists of the following members:
Howard Birchmore - Bass Guitar and Harmonica.
-
Howard joined the band in the
mid 80s. Until Dave joined we still thought of him as the
new boy. Howard was inspired to take up harmonica on hearing Sony Boy Williamson's single 'Help Me'.
This lead to the guitar and on into the folk scene.
Howard played a leading role in the Folk/rock bands Motley, Trouble T'Mill and Summit in the Windsor
and West London area in the 1970s. The big time always
managed to avoid them so he was reduced to following an almost
normal 9-5 existence where he is developing a career as an artist.
Paul Critchfield - Drums and percussion or Bass Guitar
-
Paul plays bass for various blues bands and was introduced to us by Fran Wood. He has played
for us since start of 2003 and is now settling down as a regular player. Paul also plays Bass
so when Howard is unavailable he can substitute.
Dave Fenner - Electric Guitar, Accoustic Guitar, Mandola
-
Dave having sat in on a few
gigs when we were caught short, joined the band in June
1994. He has a musical pedigree which includes a variety
of bands, duos, solo work etc. including a period as a
duo with Andy Lavery in the late 80s and with his wife
Alison. Dave used to dance with Crendon Morris until he
damaged a knee dancing on uneven pavement slabs.
Richard Holland - Keyboards
-
Richard Holland provided all the keyboard parts for our current CD.
He is primarily known for being a mean Banjo player, member of the
duo Footloose and organiser of the American Music concerts at Nettlebed.
Rex Morrey - Whistles, Recorder and Alto Sax
-
Rex is one of the founder members. Rex digs out most of our
material although the arrangements are strictly a team
effort. He also engineers and mixes all our studio
recordings. Rex's musical pedigree includes a period playing whistle
and recorder with Kennet Morris, sound engineer for Scotch Measure and he
engineered and mixed all the Geckoes albums.
